Your visiting nurse will trim the nails, thin the nails if thick, and smooth the edges to prevent them from being pulled or snagged on the client’s socks, pants, or sheets.
We clean the feet with soap and water wipes, and apply lotion if appropriate, and the client is agreeable. If we find anything of concern, we point it out and communicate with the client’s physician group, home health, or hospice group if they are involved in the patient’s care.
